A windy day in Tennessee. William and I went to Toddler Time then visited around the library.

The Promised iphoto Recap
Last week I said I’d upload some photos so here they are!
More Than Halfway!!
The mantra this week is we are over the hump and more than halfway thru the time period William must wear his cast! Yay!

Sunday Catching Up
We’ve had a nice busy week. William’s cast is scheduled to come off April 2 which is a couple of days earlier than we thought. We are still going to Vanderbilt for the removal. First on the schedule are lots of hugs, a shower and a bath for him
We went to the zoo twice this week and had fun. William enjoyed being outside and MaryVic loves the playground there. She is happy just to go there without visiting the animals.
Unfortunately it is a huge playground and it is hard to keep up with her with William being immobile and very heavy. I did have some of the mommy moments of “where is she!!” especially on Friday when 2 busloads of children came into the playground. She is getting better about checking in on William and I as she plays though and there is no denying the appeal of both of them napping at 1 p.m. in the van on the way home.
William is wiggling around on the floor more and starting to actually get around somewhat. He finds it easier to go backwards but that has obvious problems. It also means he needs watching when in chairs and laps as he is pushing himself up and away more without thought for the consequences.
He slept through 3 nights last week so I think his leg is starting to hurt less. It is a little easier to put him on the guest bed versus the crib and turn him some as he is falling asleep. I don’t know how he can sleep on his side with his little foot up in the air for an hour without the foot going to sleep!
He is starting to have a red spot on his back where the cast is rubbing his spine. Mary Alice, Grandmomma Nicholson, has stitched some moleskin and batting together that we tried out last night to see if it will provide some cushioning. We’re still working on the getting it to stay put issue. The front flipped up and slid up but it looks like the back stayed in place.
All is well and I’ll try to put up my iphone pictures from the week as a recap later today!
Vanderbilt Appointment
Took William back to Vanderbilt for his second appointment this afternoon. We didn’t get in and out like we did last time, but it is still quite good, and a heck of a lot better than the walk in clinic that we thought we were going to originally.
Delayed Reaction ?
I was trying to get MaryVic to lay down with me and close her eyes last night. She was pulling all the usual stalling tactics when all of the sudden she tears up and tells me, “I didn’t want to spend the night at Matthew and Connors. Why did you have to stay at the doctors?”
Ah sweetie, Mommy and Daddy had to stay because William hurt his leg and it took a long time for the doctor to fix it.
Why does he have to wear the cast? To help his leg get better. I wanted to snuggle you and missed you *sob*
Mommy and Daddy missed you too but we thought you would have fun with Matthew and Connor.
I wanted to sleep at home! We did too honey.
I was a little surprised at the declaration more than 2 weeks after the event. The only thing I can think is that she became worried because I told her that both brother and mommy have doctor appointments on Tuesday so she needed to go to school.
She was quiet sincerely upset about being parent-less that evening although we knew with our friends she’d have a good time and be okay. I remember Greg and I discussing one of us going back and home but she was asleep at our friends before or just after William got out of O.R.
She must have been more worried than we realized although I don’t know of anything else we could have done. Just broke my heart to hear her talk about this insecurity though.
She snuggled up with Daddy afterwards and fell fast asleep. We’ll just see how easily she goes to school today.
Not very easily. She cried, and tried her best NOT to get out of the car. Honestly, it’s the first time she’s actively turned away from me, and tried to stay in the car. Much hugging, and kissing in Daycare, but an awful lot of crying when Daddy was leaving.
She’s rather enjoying this Mommy time instead of going to school. Going to school is now disrupting her schedule, and it’s not something she’s happy about.
Easter Egg Hunt, Part 1 of ?
Ok, so yesterday, we have one of the best snows that Nashville has had in several years. It closed down the main street festival (or at least fundamentally did so.) Out of all of the scheduled appearances, two called to say they’d be there. Everyone else said no way. That’s to be expected. We went down anyways just in case the Celtic Dancers were there. We had a feeling that Mary would really get into them, if they weren’t too loud. If they were too loud, then William would really get into them. Either way, a win!
They were one of the ones that said no way. Oh well.
Fast forward, oh, 24 hours. Easter egg hunt for Polk Place. There’s snow out, no way this is happening.
