Descent into Hades….

Or, we go to a Birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese!

They Serve Beer, but they should go directly to Hard liquor. I think every parent secretly loves the place because of the wearing out effect on their kids, but openly (among adults) hates almost everything else about it.

It was Carole (“With an E” shouts Mary)’s 5th Birthday party, and Mary had been going on about it for weeks now. Carole went to Mary’s Day care for a little bit, but has recently started Kindergarten, plus moved a bit away from Franklin.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but this has been a cause of great distress to Mary. “Carole isn’t coming to school anymore”. She’d be quite sad about it. Since Carole wasn’t coming every day before, I took that to mean that she wasn’t there that day. I was wrong.

We walked into the ‘establishment’, and got our UV stamp for everyone. Next step, Find the Birthday party, amidst the forty billion yelling, screaming and running children. That, it turns out, was the simplest thing. We walked past the front desk, heard a “MARY!” and saw Maryvic being practically tackle hugged by Carole. It seems we didn’t RSVP until the last minute, but we were also the only ones from the Daycare to do so. When Carole’s mom told Carole that Mary was coming, Carole apparently couldn’t stop bouncing.

I think that was also the last time we saw them without blur streaks behind them. Hand in hand, those two ran all over that place.

William was also quite happy, up until the point that he ran out of tokens.

All said, it was a success. Princess Aurora (Sleeping beauty to those without little girls) was there to lend a hand, and Carole even forgot her fear of the actual Mascot!

Our biggest issue, in the end, turned out to be the reluctance of either girl to leave the other. It seemed that both wanted the other to stay at the other’s house for a sleep over party. Tonight.

“Mary, we can’t do it tonight, you have school in the morning and so does Carole.” AHA, my little genius went into action. “That’s ok, Carole can come back to school with ME!” Problem solved in her mind.

We finally managed to get them separated, but I have a feeling that there will be some sleep over parties very soon. Daddy doesn’t know if he’s ready for that, but it seems that his little girl is more than ready to start.

Can anyone guess where Mary Vic wants to have her birthday party now?
