The Kids Surprise, Part 2

With the fort complete at 10:30pm Thursday Night, Friday meant it was time to get to Arab.

The Original plan was to come down Friday night, stay in Arab, and then go to the airshow in Huntsville on Saturday. Jeff had to work Sunday on a Literacy program for the Library, so we’d come back Saturday Night. Shades were drawn, and the kids wouldn’t see the fort until Sunday Morning. Perfect planning, deserves perfect execution, right?

Weenie Dogs! and the rest of the week

I had emails from my mother in Jasper, AL about her upcoming medical procedure on Tuesday and telling me about my Grandmother Wells (MawMaw) being in the hospital for heart trouble. Greg and I did a quick consultation and decided that the best thing to do would be to take the kids for a quick visit on Monday to see both of them. MaryVic was thrilled because it meant she got to go to Nana’s and run with the weenie dog herd. William didn’t really know what was going on but if Momma and Sister were going, he was going with them!

Tears

Dropped Mary off for Daycare this morning, as we have to take William to the Dr. for his followup this afternoon.

To say that she didn’t want to go might be understating the case a bit. Tears, crying, and general shyness. Everyone has been asking about her, everyone (teachers and kids) was thrilled to see her, she gets to go to Gymnastics and (probably) Dance. It’ll be great!

But it’s not staying home with Mom.

Saturday – first trip out!

We got William out of the house for the first time and he was thrilled. We went and ate at the Texas Roadhouse. William was pointing at everything and chatting in the van. He sat in his stroller instead of an high chair and was quite happy. They played ‘Jimmy Crack Corn’ and several of the servers danced in the aisle. Greg took MaryVic to watch although she was too shy to join in.

We went to Costco afterwards and grabbed a few things. Greg and I took turns carrying William some to shift his position around. He fell asleep in the stroller. Woke up when we put him the car and that was all the nap he took. Tried to get him and MaryVic to take a quiet time twice later in the day but no dice.

We took a nice walk down to the pond and fed the geese. William rode in the wagon again and enjoyed it. Greg posted pictures at our photo web site.

Greg had pointed out during lunch that the doctor said not to give William too much motrin since some studies had shown it inhibits bone growth. Mary Alice gave him some motrin around 10:30 and he didn’t get any more pain killers until bed time. He got really fussy later in the day.

I gave him the prescription pain killer at sponge bath time. He spat part of it out. I don’t know if it was lack of nap or that we missed a dose of pain killer but he screamed and fussed at bedtime. He kept yelling ‘stuck!’. I felt so bad for him. We wound up with him on his tummy on my chest when he finally went to sleep. Greg had to come and put me up on the bed. He tried to take W to the crib but he woke up screaming again. Greg got him arranged mostly next to me and so we slept. I think part of the reason he was waking was he was trying to turn over in his sleep and unable to :(
